Volunteer Opportunities

Tehama County Health Services Agency utilizes various volunteer programs and organizations to activate registered participants who have varying levels of expertise ranging from surgeons, to counselors, to animal handlers. If you would like to volunteer during a disaster consider joining one of the groups below.
When disaster strikes emergency responders may need additional assistance. Volunteers play an important role in disaster preparedness. Our mission is to provide the education and resources necessary for community members to connect with disaster needs.

Organizations

Are you a medical professional by trade? Do you want to volunteer your expertise? Our local chapter of DHV is always looking to welcome volunteers from the healthcare field. Your licensing information would be validated upon registration so you could quickly be deployed to a disaster if necessary. In the event of a disaster you would be contacted based on information you provide and you have the option to accept or deny deployment. Northern California VOAD is an association of organizations that provide disaster-related services. You can contact VOAD directly to be connected to your local chapter and find out more about how to volunteer your time.

Do you have a passion for animals and want to help them during a disaster? You can! This group trains volunteers to be able to shelter and evacuate various types of animals during fires and floods. The group provides a mandatory 16-hour training to get started and continuously trains throughout the year to advance their skills in animal handling, radio communication, fire-line safety, animal shelter hygiene, Incident Command System operation and more.
