PERINATAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAM
(PSAP)
 
     
Purpose
 
  • Provide voluntary services to pregnant and
    post-partum women who are using or in substance abuse treatment
  • Assist clients in obtaining a sober lifestyle
  • Facilitate a healthy pregnancy
  • Delivery of a substance-free infant
  • Facilitate parent/child bonding
  • Assist family in providing a safe home environment

 
     
Who is Eligible?
 
  • Pregnant and or post-partum women who are using or are in substance treatment
  • Tehama County residents
 
     
  Who Provides the service?  
 
  • Public Health Nurse
  • Drug and Alcohol Counselor
 
     
  Where are the services provided?
Home, Hospital, Public Health Office, Drug and Alcohol Office or Doctor's Office
 
 
  • Case Management by a Public
    Health Nurse
    • Home visits
    • Prenatal, post-partum & infant assessments
    • Health education
    • Referral and transportation for appointments
    • Counseling and education referrals
    • Crisis intervention
    • Support system
  • Case Management by Drug
    and Alcohol Counselor
    • In-home intake and level of care assessment
    • Schedule Perinatal drug and alcohol treatment services
    • Referral for residential treatment, if indicated
    • Transportation to drug and alcohol treatment
    • Childcare during treatment
    • Three and six month post-treatment assessments
